a) New construction or energy assessment of an existing building
The maximum permissible U-value is specified by the building physicist as part of an energy assessment or thermal insulation certificate.
b) Existing building - component verification:
A U-value of U ≤ 0.24 W/(m²K) must be maintained (in accordance with Section 48 GEG in conjunction with Annex 7).
The following measures are affected:
- Replacement or initial installation of exterior walls
- Application of insulation layers to the outside of an existing wall
- Renewal of the exterior plaster of an existing wall where the old plaster is removed (so-called “plaster repairs”, including those carried out in combination with additional paint or plaster coatings without removing the old plaster, are repairs rather than plaster renewal)
The following measures are exempt:
- Changes affecting no more than 10% of the total exterior wall area
- Changes to exterior walls constructed or renewed after December 31, 1983, in compliance with energy-saving regulations
- Plaster repairs (including those carried out in combination with additional paint or plaster coatings)
